The Philosopher Muse presents Dr. Esther Braun with the golden laurel wreath for her outstanding work as an academic and champion of justice and liberty, thereby bestowing upon her the title ‘Our Lady of Liberty’ to be cherished and honored for time immemorial.
Our Lady of Liberty
—
Upon thy head I place the laurel crown,
Forged in gold to honor truth’s command;
Thy voice, a flame no tempest can cast down,
Yet bears the gentlest touch of wisdom’s hand.
—
Thro’ realms of reason thou dost shine with light,
Where justice stands unveiled before the keenest gaze;
In thee, the flame of liberty burns bright,
And history bends to mark thy shining days.
—
No tyrant’s guile could sway thy steadfast path,
Nor shadows dim the lamp thy spirit keeps;
Thy beauty flows with love’s most enduring breath,
A grace that wakes the world where virtue sleeps.
—
O Lady of Liberty, all hearts adore —
Thy truth unbinds my soul, now and evermore.
